Last Hurrah (and an Incident!)
Yesterday, June 10, we went to Paradise Island Beach Resort (no introduction to Dabawenyo's!). This has always been the place where my husband and my parents watch Manny's fight. I don't watch. I'm kinda like the bantay bata during the entire time that Manny fights. I just wait for the news on who won. Boxing is a different world for me. I am not just into it.
The tide was on our side yesterday. Our usual experience that when we arrive it's high tide going to low tide. By the time it's 12nn, there's no more water (Raise your hands for those who have experienced this at Paradise!) and the kids would wail. Yesterday, though, when we arrived, water was still on the low tide going to high tide. Weeeee! Kids were very happy. When we left at 3pm, there was still water on the beach. How cool is that?!
So here are some pics of our last hurrah before school starts! (I'm praying though that we can still find time for the beach. Who wants one last tan?
PS.
On a personal note, I almost quarreled with a grandmother yesterday. This is what happened:
Caleb: Akin yan.. (The statement caught my attention and I looked towards his direction. A girl, I guess 3 years old and up, was playing with his toys.)
Baby Girl: Hawa dinhi. Dili ka muhawa labayan taka ug balas! (Leave. If you're not going to leave, I will throw sand at you!).
Caleb: (baffled, he doesn't understand bisaya). Ma? (looking at me).
While this was going on, the grandmother who sat beside the girl, did not do anything to reprimand her granddaughter (Oooooh, I was just so tempted to reprimand the girl). I was mad, raging mad. Those are my children's toys. I don't mind it when other kids play with them, but hey, do not antagonize my child. And if an adult is with the child, I appreciate it much if the adults asks if the toys can be borrowed and if the child is rude, to reprimand the child. I teach my kids to ask permission, "Nak, ask ate or kuya if you can borrow." My kids ask permission. And when they turn rude, I reprimand them. I wanted to turn feisty but instead breathe in (ayokong pumatol sa bata). I told my husband the situation and he was the one who calmly got the toys. He said, "Ate, we're going to get the toy okay? They're playing with it."
After a while, the girl's ate played with her. What the ate told the little girl baffled me more.
Ate: Kunin mo na lahat ng toys nila, hindi pala nila pinaglalauran. (Get all of their toys, they're not playing with it).
And I so wanted to scream, "WHAAAAT?!" So what I did, I got all of the kids toys and transferred it on the other side of the table. My husband says they're a weird family. End of story.
What are we teaching our kids?
