Our Dinosaur Alive Experience

Image
Last week, while passing by Zoofari, I saw a tarpaulin about the Dinosaur Alive event at the Matina Town Square.  I was very curious about it since I knew Caleb and Calix would love to view the exhibit.  I wasn't able to read it in the local newspapers (or maybe I haven't been reading newspapers lately) so I scoured the internet for information. The cost was a bit steep, tickets are priced at Php250 per head, regardless if your bringing an infant or a toddler.  The good thing though is that if you purchase 5 tickets (family entrance), you only pay Php1000.  That's a Php250 discount!  The exhibit runs from April 20-29 at the Matina Town Square from 10am until 12mn. The kids enjoyed the experience (I suggest you go and visit at night since the light effects can be better appreciated).  The dinosaurs were roaring and their bodies were moving (I believe they had 10 dinos in the exhibit area).  The kids were of course first scared but after explaining t...

Best Job

Image
I believe the hardest job in the world is to be a mom.  I learned this when I became a mother.  Being a mom is not a part-time job.  Being a mom is full time.  Even when a mom is at work or doing something else, she constantly thinks of her children and their welfare.  But even if it is the hardest job, it is the best job in the whole world.  I wouldn't trade this job for anything else. Here's a tribute made by Procter & Gamble for moms, in relation to the London 2012 Olympics.  My tears fell watching this video.

My Skin Regimen

Image
I believe it is important to have a skin regimen.  It is important to always take care of our skin. I started having a regular skin regimen back when I was in college.  When I was in elementary, it was just plain washing of the face.  In high school, since I had pimple breakouts, it was a skin regimen prescribed by a dermatologist.  I did not consider it regular because eventually, when the outbreak stopped, I also stopped the skin regimen. Pond's was my regular skin regimen back in college.  I think this was when Pond's started to introduce it's whitening range in the Philippines.  Their whitening range was love, love, love!  This is especially true for teenagers are very much interested in having fairer and whiter skin (I think Filipinos are addicted to this!).  So I use Pond's facial wash and then it's whitening cream after. This is their current whitening range. Of course, after a while, I realized that our skin age and products must ...

Swimsuit Dilemma

Image
I love 2pc swimsuits- the bikini types. It's easy to wear and take-off. Back in my college and law school days, summer means parading in those 2pc swimsuits. I didn't have that vavaboom body, but hey, i worked out and dieted. That would at least make my body passable. After giving birth, i gave away all of those swimsuits. It was sad knowing that an era (oh what an era!) had ended. My biggest problem was having loose skin on my tummy. Loose, really, really loose skin. So even if my tummy is not bulging, there's loose skin. Wearing a 2pc is therefore out of the question. I still wear a 2pc but not the bikini types. I now choose tankinis. I sometimes wear those 1pc swimsuits. It's twice the hassle but at least you don't have to worry about bulges or anything. Just recently, I discovered high waist 2pc swimsuits. It's bikini type but the bottom part is high waist. Yay for mommies and for those with tummy problems! I also found fashionable 1pc swimsuits. Check...

Our Choice of School- Tuburan Institute

Image
Ever since my children turned 2, my husband and I have been school hunting.  Mind you, school hunting is not an easy task.  Visiting schools and attending orientations can be quite tedious! But we always tell ourselves that at the end of the day, all that matters is that we're able to find a good school where they can be educated.  My husband and I have agreed that we're not going for a traditional school.  I know, a traditional school has been tried and tested.  I graduated from a traditional school, and so does my husband.  But there are things  in a traditional school which we're not very comfortable with. One of these is the number of students in a class (which I think is a very big problem), the manner by which children are taught (teacher talks and students listen), the reading and the writing, to name a few.  Oh, I'm not saying that we're against writing and reading. It's just that I don't want to force my kids to read and write when they'...

The Bird Show and the Eagle..

Image
I have been searching for a place on the internet- a place where a kid can learn and have fun at the same time. So one Sunday (this was before our Eden trip), we went to Malagos to watch the famous bird show by Dr. Bo.  The kids were really amazed at the animals and the birds.  It's always nice to see them ask, "Mama, what's that? What's this?"  That always brings music to my ears.  It's during these times that I realize how their minds are very absorbent. We're hugging near the entrance!  Here we are, waiting for the bird show to start. Excited! We're feeding the birds!  The kids were so happy. And after the bird show, we went to the Philippine Eagle Center, just a few minutes drive from Malagos Garden Resort. As you will see in the succeeding pics, we realized just how fearless Caleb is.  He's never afraid of anything- even snakes! Posing near the eagle. Outside the Center.  Caleb loves the snake while Calix is afraid ...

At Eden.....

Image
We try to bring the twins to places other than the malls.  Yes, they love the mall.  They especially love Abreeza.  They love Wonderland, Dave's Fun House, Kid's Playroom and Zoofari, play houses situated at malls.  I also love these places because it allows them to be kids, play and socialize.  But the thing is, there's nothing much you can do at malls.  When go to the mall, we just play and eat.  And sometimes, it bothers me that when we're at the mall, we're able to spend more than what we should do.  So sometimes, we try to bring them to other places.  We bring them to beaches (this the kids specially loves!), we go nature-tripping  (Crocodile Park and Philippine Eagle Center), we bike and we hike.  I find that it is during these moments that they can be kids and actually learn something new. So yesterday, Palm Sunday, we went to Eden.  We initially wanted to stay overnight but booking a room was next to impossible (the l...
