Mama's Look
I am a mom-on-the-go. What mom is not? On a given day, I wake up to two sleeping kids who have decided to wake up a bit late- 8am. Before they decided on this, they usually woke up at around 6:30am which means that I am able to usually leave the house at around 9am. However, since they now decide to wake up a bit late, this therefore also means that I am able to leave the house a bit late, around 10am.
As a mom-on-the go, I'd have to think about what to wear the next day the night before. It's a trick to mentally think about your closet (Imagine "Clueless" where the lead star had a rotating closet. That's what I do.). At least Alicia Silverstone had a computer to help her decide what to wear. Me? I have to close my eyes and think. It's a good thing though that my closet is small. Having a big one would surely spell trouble.
It's easy to decide what to wear on a weekday. Weekdays usually means office attire. Barongs, slacks, dresses with blazers, etc. Get the picture? My outfit has to convey the job which I have- a lawyer and a teacher. So I might want to look a bit sexy but in a dignified way. Is that possible? I think it is. And of course, heels! Lots of heels. I think wearing heels makes me look more professional. I just love wearing heels on weekdays. So on a weekday, this is how I normally dress (normally because sometimes, I do love to dress down):
But on a weekend, it's a different story. On weekends, fashion is a bit laid back, depending on where I am going and what my errands for the day are. And of course, depends on whether I am bringing my kids or not. On a weekend therefore, I am usually in polo shirts, shirts or blouses, with shorts or jeans, and fitflops or flat shoes. I have actually managed to collect a number of shorts (not the expensive ones of course!). I usually go to DCLA in order to hoard shorts. I am not that particular with brands when it comes to bottoms. With regards tops, it depends. I mix and match my wardrobe, sometimes I buy those with brands and sometimes I don't. I'm kinda into oversized tops right now, like this one from Bayo:
I love oversized tops because it hides my bulgy stomach. Mom's usually have this problem, I think (I hope I am not alone on this!). Although my own mother says that for my age, my tummy is quite big (Hello! I gave birth to twins!) So I kinda have an explanation but which of course, is unacceptable to my mother. My inquisitive twins also love to say "Mama, you have a big tummy!". I wonder if they understood that they both came from my tummy.
However with shoes or slippers, I'd have to say I splurge on branded ones. I guess it's because they're more sturdy than those which don't have brands. But I still go for local brands. I love Mendrez and CLN for my office shoes. They usually last long and that's a plus. I also love shoes from MSE. They actually last longer than shoes from Mendrez and CLN.
And on weekends, I love flats! What mom would not? They're made for doing errands and for running after toddlers. And I actually have a confession to make, I am so into Suelas right now. They're so comfortable and the best thing is, they're so fashionable! Look at what I have:
