The Planner

I have lived my life and continue to live my life around organizers and planners.  This must be the OCness in me.  I started having one when I was still in high school.  And now I'm asking myself why I had one (hahaha!).  Did I have meetings and events back in high school? Lol :P  Maybe my classmates can remind me.  

In college, organizers and planners became all the more important.  Schedule of exams, meetings, co-curricular activities and extra-curricular ones.  In law school, more important exams, meetings, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.  

In the profession I am in right now, planners and organizers are a must.  I must say I have many professions, foremost of which is being a mom.  It's a full time job.  I am also a lawyer and an educator.  So having three (3) professions, it is all the more important to have a planner to schedule my life and to schedule everyone else's.  I write down my hearings, meetings, deadlines, schedule of exams and school activities.  And oh, I also write down scheduled vacations (this is a MUST!).  I also write down my twins' schedule (YES, they have).  They have scheduled play dates, parties, pedia visits, and the like.  And I also write down my husband's schedule (to keep track of him. hahahaha!).  Honestly, I just write it down so that my life gets a bit organized and I believe, organization is the key to a happy family.  Do you agree?

This 2012, I had a Mom Planner.  I got it from Momme Planner on Facebook.  The weekly schedule had a space for me, for the husband, and for the kids.  Nice right?  It also had a space for doodles, menstrual tracker, expenses, meal planner, grocery list, to name a few.  I was really all praises for this organizer.  Check this out:

However, I checked out their FB Page, and it seems there has been no activity since the beginning of the year.  I guess they're not coming out with a 2013 version. 

So for 2013, I had to find another planner.  Why this early?  Well, since October, I have 2013 schedules already.  And guess what?  I discovered the 2013 Starbucks Planner.  I am not a coffee drinker, but for this planner, I had to collect 17 stickers.  17 stickers meant drinking 9 Christmas blends and 8 ordinary blends.  I guess in less than a month, I completed my 17 stickers.  Don't ask me how.  Suffice it to say my husband and I drank coffee, I forced my mom to drink with us, I asked the stickers of those who ordered from Starbucks but did not want the planner (makapal ang mukha ko. hahaha!).  Check out my green planner:

 I am now in the process of collecting stickers for the 2nd planner, not for me but for my husband.  And maybe, just maybe, if I can get a 3rd one, I will have a giveaway.

Well, it's not really the mom planner which I wanted to have.  I guess I will just have to improvise.  I will be buying color-coded stickers to write down the twins' and the husbands' schedule.  And then I guess paper inserts for everything else which I need to write.

When I was younger, I vowed never to spank my kids nor to subject them to any physical punishment.  I just didn't think it would work.  I would see my friends being physically subjected to violence and I saw how they eventually rebelled against their parents. I knew this would only work if my husband-to-be would also agree on me on this point.  So I was very thankful when my husband  +Dante Valenzuela Jr.   also had the same view point as mine.  No spanking, no physical violence, no shouting (although this happens sometimes). We're Almost 4!

Wow! I can't believe I last wrote on my blog on January 14.  It's been like more than 15 days since I last wrote.  So much for a blog a day, right? But I have been too busy lately with work (sigh) and this makes me terribly guilty of sometimes neglecting the twins. The twins' birthday are coming up.  We decided last year that we would just have a mini-party at home, a quiet family affair.  However, at the early part of this year, I had a change of heart.  Kids only celebrate their parties while they're young right? So this year, we're planning a  mini-party either at McDonalds ( At another branch, not the one at Abreeza.  If you've been following me, you'll know why .) or Jollibee with their friends and playmates.  Less adults, more kids.  That's what we're planning to do this year, invite kids (and of course, the adults that will accompany the kids.) Little Kitchen Helper

I would like my kids to love cooking in the same way that they love eating.  I guess I want to instill in them the value of appreciating food- from the preparation stage down to when the food is about to be eaten.  So from time to time, I allow my kids to help me out in the kitchen.  Sometimes they whisk the eggs when we make pancakes, other times they help me mix my cup cake mix (they like this because they love tasting the uncooked mixture!), sometimes they add the salt, just about anything that they can do at their age.
