Nature Tripping: Mont d'Johan

My kids love the malls.  I love the malls.  The thing is, I don't want my kids to grow up just loving the malls.  The world is a huge place and there's a lot to explore.  So there are times when I give in to going to unknown places (no matter how difficult it is) just so to expose them to how interesting and beautiful the world is.

Yesterday was one of those times.  Preparing to go nature-tripping is such a big moment for us (well, going out has always been considered a big moment for us since we have to bring and carry stuff for two!).  Playtex drop-ins are on top of the list.  Do we still have liners left?  Check.  Clothes (lots of them!).  Check.  Swimming trunks.  Check.  Towels.  Check.  Diapers (we just use them whenever we go out).  Check.  Lampin (lots of them, too!).  Check.  Sunblock.  Check.  Oh, lest we forget their wipey (it's their security blanket- the teddy bear one for Calix, the cat for Caleb).  Check.  Toiletries.  Check.  Babida (that's their term for salbabida).  Check.  And last but not the least, food and distilled water.  I've been very particular with water lately.  Whenever we have to travel, I only buy those distilled ones.  A friend of mine once said that distilled water is preferred by pediatricians.  After checking and double checking (a mother's OCness), we're good to go!

We went to this place somewhere in Marilog.  It's a resort but not a well-known one (like Seagull  Mountain Resort).  I even forgot the name of the place (wait, will google it!).  It's called Mont d'Johan.  The place is really far.  Travel time is more than an hour and since it was raining yesterday, the roads were a bit slippery. The resort is nestled on the slope of a mountain, I think.  They have three small pools which is being fed by a cold spring (when I say cold, it's really cold).  Calix loved the pool though Caleb did not (even though they're twins, they have different tastes for water temperature).  They at first, of course, was hesitant about the pool (exclaiming that it's dirty) since the pools were just made of cement (not the tiles they both were accustomed to).  They have a waterfall too but we did not manage to go down as I was afraid I would have an asthma attack once we climbed up the steep slope.

I love how natural the resort is.  There are no cellphone signals (love it!).  It's good to be away for some time.  I love that they were able to step on mud (Putik Mama!) and have their feet dirty.  I love the fact that they were able to see a river down below.  And I so love the fact that they can be just with nature- seeing flora and fauna, seeing insects, and being bitten by ants (it's painful but hey, we always get bitten by ants!).

There's only one room near the pool that is priced at Php3500.  It has two rooms on the 2nd floor and a sala/dining area on the ground floor.  Best thing is, you don't have to bring kitchen utensils and kitchen necessities.  It's complete.  You just have to pay Php300 for the use of the LPG.

I don't have pictures.  We were busy talking, relaxing and just looking over the twins (the perks of being away from the city and technology).  I only have one- of Caleb playing with the makahiya (he had fun!).

A toast to nature tripping! I think we're off to see this resort again this weekend.

Caleb and the makahiya.
