Dear Senator Trillanes
Dear Senator Trillanes,
As a senator of the Republic of the Philippines, I would have thought that although you are not a lawyer, you must have respect for the law. I agree, we all are in the quest for truth and accountability. Who would not want to know the truth? Every person is always in search for the truth.
However, I believe that this quest for truth must have respect for the rules of law which have been established in the first place. People cannot just go on a fishing expedition. For example, rules on evidence are there not in order to suppress the truth but in order to aid litigators seek out the truth. Flexibility may be used during the impeachment trial but these rules of evidence cannot be disregarded, as what I believe you are saying. I am not a seasoned litigator nor do I claim to be one, but these rules of evidence are there in order for litigators to be able to seek out the truth. Otherwise, this impeachment trial becomes like a circus where no rules are present to guide the prosecutors, the defense, and the impeachment court. If that is case, there is no point continually spending tax payer's money.
PS.
Please do not do a disservice to the many voters who voted for you. I sincerely hope they are not disgruntled with you right now because honestly, I am wondering why you were even voted in the first place.
