This Tupperware Incident

I remember growing up with Tupperware.  My mom had plenty of those.  My grandmother also collected the same.  I remember storing and putting food or stuffs on those colorful Tupperware.  So when I started to have kids, I vowed to start my Tupperware collection.  It wasn't when my kids started school that I began to look for a supplier.  Luckily, we have at Ateneo.  I started buying last July, and I think I've amassed quite a few.  Now please don't raise your eyebrows.  I know Tupperware's are expensive but I only buy those which are on sale.  Lol :P If there's something expensive which I really, really like, I ask my mom to buy it (lucky me!).

The thing is, three weeks ago I bought a 1L Eco Bottle.  Last week, while opening the refrigerator, I accidentally dropped the bottle.  Lo and behold, the cap cracked.  What?!  Do Tupperware's crack?  I had the belief that it doesn't.  So I texted Ate Fely (our beloved Division Secretary) and asked if she can ask our Ateneo supplier if the same can be replaced by virtue of Tupperware's warranty.  I was informed it can be.  So I bought the bottle to Ateneo thereafter and our supplier brought the same to the Tupperware store to be replaced.  Surprisingly, I was thereafter informed that it can't be replaced. Miffed.  I was informed it was outside Tupperware's warranty.  I had to say out lout, "That can't be.  It's a Tupperware.  How can a cap made from plastic and registered by Tupperware break?!"

So if the won't replace it as requested by our supplier, I vowed to personally request the same.  If things do not go well, I vowed to go the Department of Trade and Industry.  I will not take NO for an answer.  The incident bugged me for a whole week.  It was adding to my stress (mababaw ba? hehehe) but I just would not take NO for an answer.  It took me more than a week before I finally had the time to go to the Tupperware store.  During that one week period, some of my co-teachers were asking for updates.  They encouraged me and prodded me to ask for a replacement.  It was just Php499, but hey, I have principles.

Yesterday, I finally went to the Tupperware store, expecting a confrontation of some sorts.  I asked to see the manager and the person in charge of warranties and replacements.  I introduced myself, "Good afternoon Sir.  I am Atty. blah, blah, blah.  I want this cap replaced." And you know what he said, "Ma'am, the cap can't be replaced, the entire bottle has to be.  However, we don't have any Eco Bottle right now.  Out of stock.  I do have a blue cap (I have the green bottle) if you want."  And I said, "The green cap is fine.  I'll take it."  Hmmmmm.  I wonder why the manager just gave in to my demand after receiving a negative response a week earlier.

My Eco Bottle had a new cop (albeit a blue one).  But hey, at least I can now use it.  Yay!
