Organizing a Birthday Party
I believe every kid should have a birthday party because birthday parties always mean a lot of fun for the guests and for the celebrants. Of course, a 1 year old toddler wouldn't have an idea or clue as to how special birthdays are but as the toddler grows old, he begins to learn that birthdays are milestones.
Caleb and Calix are turning 3 next month. They have grown so much.
So it's that time of the year again when we're busy preparing and organizing their birthday party. My husband would have wanted to travel instead of giving them a birthday bash but I argued that since they can now remember events, its a good time to give them a party. On one point we agreed that we wouldn't want an expensive one, just a simple party where we can all have fun.
Our first option was either at McDonalds or Jollibee. I asked some of my friends who recently held their children's birthday in the said places and they said it's hassle free. The fees include the minimal decorations, food, party hosting and game prizes. But when I asked them how much they spent, it was almost like each guest had eaten proper food, not fast food. So I was thinking that if feeding them proper food in a restaurant and feeding them fast food would mean the same costs, I would rather do the latter. Which means we're now looking at some restaurant's in Davao. We could always go back to Harana's (the venue of their 1st) or Yummy's (the venue for their 2nd) or we could try a new one or we could just have it at home. So at this point, we haven't really decided yet.
And oh, I would love to bake their birthday cake. I've tried baking cupcakes and the ones I baked last Sunday turned out perfect. I just need to know how to make fondant icing.

my few cents..fondant icing looks nice but taste is usually far from delectable. i suggest you google on how to make fondant looking icing, it looks like it but it tastes good. if you cant do away with fondant, try fondant toppers , but make marshmallow or fondant looking icing. hope this helps
ReplyDeletehi ma'am! i agree, the marshmallow based is better.. i know how to make the fondant looking icing.. i did that last weekend.. calix ate a lot of it coz it was in his favorite color- violet! hehehe.. will try working on the marshmallow based fondant this weekend.. thanks!
ReplyDeleteI always go for personalized birthday party for my son. Personalized mean I get to do the details as in everything. From the invites, decorations, the food, give aways and even the cake. I don't really know how to do the cake myself so I see to it that I will have a hand on its design. After I had a Jolly party on Blue's third bday I have these following realizations: 1. a stressed mommy makes a stressed baby, 2. the child only remembers the party's entertainment, all those bubbles and mascots rather than your sleepless nights of thinking doing of all those party details, 3. kids don't really eat so much during parties (its the old ones who do) so invest more on the entertainment 4. you need to be a kid yourself is one thing that the child wants of us during their bday parties and how can you do this if your already very tired on the preparation stage 5. Let them choose what party they want. More often than not we are so facinated by the party themes and parties that we saw on TV or attended from friends that we tend to forget that its their day. If they get a hand on the planning and choosing some details, they can feel that their bday is special and that makes their day memorable to them.
